The mortal realm - a fine place to learn about as that’s where you’ll be spending the vast majority of your time. Now to start with, you’ll find this land quite similar to your own. Indeed, Pevoraille believes that your world is part of our future or past, or possibly both - it has do with quantum mechanics and the coexistence of multiple potentialities, but to be honest, I haven’t the mathematical grounding to understand it, much less provide you with a cogent explanation. At any rate, Pevoraille seems quite sure of this link, though there is one difference between our worlds that he’s not been able to account for - namely, our year is a bit shorter than your own, lasting for precisely 336 days or twelve lunar cycles. And by precisely, I mean down to the thinnest sliver of a moment, and that seems to imply that some manner of magic predated even my master, a seeming impossibility as Pevoraille has been here since the beginning.
But theory aside, this unfailing periodicity means our seasons and holidays recur in an unswerving manner. I bring this up because our holidays - our holy days - frequently coincide with significant events. And this comes not by chance. This comes of the patterns that have been sanctioned by the Sacred Covenant. On May Day and All Hallows, spirits the world over have a chance to gain footing on this land. Saint’s Day belongs to the Light, Midsummer’s Eve the Father of Despair; the March Ides is a day the world bleeds, and the fall equinox belongs to Pzoeliar the Binder. No need to fret over the details. I just thought you should be aware.
Now, there’s an enchanted map hanging on the wall. What say we step through and have a look about Thalesia since that’s where you’ll be starting out . . ..
Now, if you wish, you can set the enchanted map to give you a glance at the Isle of Plaix or this continent, Pyrrhavia. Just set the markers as I’ve diagrammed them to the left or right . . .
