Hel - like the Fenris Wolf and Midgard Serpent - was born of Loki and the giantess Angurboda, and like her siblings, Hel was to play a key role in Ragnarok, sailing from the infernal realm on a ship built of dead men's nails with a host of undead - but Hel was eradicated by the Dagonmother Leviathan, which to at least a few of us has raised questions about the nature of fate and the inevitability of the final cataclysm.
One trinket this evil goddess left behind still bears her name - the Tears of Hel. These are ancient torture devices that looklike nothing more than a footman's blackjack. But in the hands of a Lokian cleric, these are fearsome weapons indeed . . .
